Data Security

Any personal data we may ask you to provide is collected solely for the purpose of processing your orders and fulfilling the terms of contracts which you may have concluded with us, or offering the service which you have requested. Under no circumstances will the data collected for this purpose be sold or otherwise transferred to third parties.

Your data will not be used for advertising purposes. We will store postal addresses and e-mail addresses in order to be able to contact you with regard to your order. In certain cases we may contact you in our capacity as editors with a request for information relating to the content of the magazine. For example, if we find out that a touring circus is visiting your town and we would like to run an article about the juggler in the show, we might ask you if you would be willing to help us out. We thank you in advance for your understanding.

Secure online transactions thanks to the SSL Certificate

The following required data are transmitted to us in encrypted form:
name, postal address, country, e-mail address.
If you opt to pay by direct debit, MasterCard or Visa, your account data are also transmitted.

For the transmission of your data, we use an encrypted and thus secure SSL connection. SSL (Secure Socket Layer) is a security technology that ensures that your personal data are transferred safely via the Internet:

1. All content transmitted to the server during the Internet link is encrypted.

2. The web server to which you are connecting is clearly identifiable.

3. Powerful algorithms are used to verify that the data reach the intended recipient in complete and unaltered form.

When you place an order or log in, your personal data – such as your name, address, password, account information, etc. – are automatically encrypted. You can tell that a data transfer is encrypted by the fact that “https” appears in the address line of your web browser, instead of the usual “http”. The “s” stands for “secure”.

If you would like to know more about the SSL certificate we use, which is provided by GeoTrust, please visit that company’s website: http://www.geotrust.com.

Please note that e-mails generated by the simple “mailto” address link on our website and sent to us via an e-mail client are not encrypted.

Data transmission and logging for system-related and statistical purposes

When you access our website, your web browser automatically transmits data to our web server. Such data include the date and time of the access, the URL of the web page linking to our site, any files downloaded, the volume of data transmitted, the browser type and version you are using, the operating system, and your IP address. These data are stored separately from the other data which you may have entered in regard to the use of our products and services. It is not possible for us to match the automatically transmitted data to a particular person. These data are analysed for statistical purposes and then erased.

Cookies

When you use our online forms, data are stored on your computer with the aid of cookies. These are “session cookies” which are immediately erased as soon as you finish using the online form. You have the option of modifying your browser settings in order to prevent the storage of cookies on your computer. However, this may restrict the functionality of our online services.

Disclosure and deletion

Upon submission of a written request to the address given below, we will inform you which of your data we have stored and for what purpose.

If you request the deletion of your data in writing (address, see below), we will comply with this request as quickly as possible. However, we must remain in compliance with the legal requirements regarding the retention of data.
